Points are scarce for HMS girls at WEC Meet
In a number of events at the War Eagle Conference Meet the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls track and field team just missed scoring points. That left them with just 10 points and a 10th-place finish at the meet held May 1 at Paullina.
Hinton broke a tie with Unity Christian by winning the final event, the 4×400 meter relay, to take the team title with 165 points. The Knights were second in the event and second in the team standings with 163 points.
The best finish for HMS was in that same 4×400. The team of Moriah Otto, Jocelyn Abonce, Alexis Croatt and Kamryn Ebel came in fourth. Abonce, Croatt and Moriah Otto joined Evelyn Steffen to place fifth in the 4×800 relay.
Megan Otto was sixth in the high jump as was Croatt in the 1500 meters. Hawk relays placing sixth were the sprint medley of Frankie Mohni, Payton Diehm, Moriah Otto and Abby Otto and the distance medley of Pamela Mutombo, Abby Otto, Moriah Otto and Ebel.
