FIFTY YEARS AGO

The congregation of Sanborn Christian Reformed Church participated in the groundbreaking ceremony last Tuesday evening. The chairman of the building committee said they hope to start building about a week after the groundbreaking.
Groundbreaking ceremonies employing the use of a walking plow, will be held Friday evening, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. for the construction of the new Sanborn First Reformed Church.
Mr. Ed Brandt, high school band director, announces plans for an active summer for all band students with Summer Band beginning June 18.
The Gary Japenga family moved Saturday to the Mrs. Olive Loafman farm west of Sanborn.
The Dummett cousins reunion was held Sunday at Worthington with a large attendance.
Pictured were two young workmen, Jim Suckow and Jeff Dasen, employed by the town for the summer, who were busy this week repairing cracks in the blacktop on Main Street.

Robert and Doris Postma will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with open house from 2-4 p.m. on June 13 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.
At the Memorial Day observance in Sanborn, awards in recognition of 50 years continuous membership were presented to Bonnie Damman, American Legion Auxilary, and Wm. Bousema, American Legion.
The Kindergarten graduation at Sanborn Christian School was held May 21. Graduates were Justean DeGroot, Kimberly Elgersma, Tyler Solsma and Joshua Horstman. Their teacher is Mrs. Alvina Hofman.
