Okoboji/HMS gets a split at home triangular

Okoboji/HMS got a dual win and a dual loss as the Pioneers hosted Le Mars and Sioux Center December 7 at Milford. Okoboji/HMS beat Le Mars 51-24 but fell to the Warriors 64-21. Sioux Center also got the better of the Bulldogs, winning 64-21.
There were five wrestlers from HMS competing. Ethan Wiersma pinned his Le Mars opponent, Kaleb Breuer, in 3:26 at 215 pounds. The Bulldogs’ Jaxen Hoag defeated heavyweight Bryce Ortega 4-2. Winning by forfeit were Nathan Stofferan at 113 pounds, Austin Greer at 120 and James Gellerman at 175.
In the Sioux Center dual, Stofferan was only one of the five to pick up a victory and that was by forfeit. Greer lost by fall to Eddie Topete in 1:35. Wiersma dropped an 8-0 major decision to Brodie Van Regenmorter. Ortega lost by fall to Jacques Zomermaand in 4:19 and it took Reid Hulshof just 55 seconds to pin Gellerman.
The Pioneer girls blanked Sioux Center 60-0. In the only two matches wrestled, Kimberly Bergeson pinned Holly MartinezMoreno in 2:44 at 135 pounds, and at 140 Avery Ballis won by fall over Beneranda Morales Martin in just :31 seconds.
