Okoboji/HMS is tenth at large Bob Roethler Invite
Okoboji/HMS was among 17 teams competing at the Bob Roethler Invitational December 9 at Emmetsburg. The Pioneers placed tenth with 81 points. Hampton-Dumont-CAL scored 222 point to emerge as the team champion.
HMS grapplers Nathan Stofferan, James Gellerman and Bryce Ortega wrestled at the meet.
Gellerman defeated Beau Kaufman of Lake Mills 7-5 in the 3rd Place Match at 175 pounds. He had earlier pinned GTRA’s Luke Malm and Jayden Kreitlow of Eagle Grove before losing by fall in his semifinal. He responded with a consolation pin of Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s Brody Robertson.
Stofferan pinned Mason City’s 113-pounder, Deforrest Snow, in 3:36 before being pinned himself. His final match was an 8-4 loss to CJ Rodriguez of Emmetsburg.
Ortega, wrestling at 285, lost a 6-5 decision to Mason City’s Alex Kenward and then lost by fall to Nathan Adams of Emmetsburg.
