The evening had a definite War Eagle Conference flavor as five of their teams gathered for the South O’Brien Mid-Season Meet April 11 at Paullina. The meet brought together Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, George-Little Rock, MMCRU, West Sioux and the host Wolverines. With 58 points the Hawks finished just behind George-Little Rock in fifth place. South O’Brien was the team champ with a 140 total.
Lexi Croatt was the winner of the 800 meters and finished third in the 1500. Alexis Grover took second in the shot put. Jocelyn Abonce was third in the 800 and Evelyn Steffen placed fourth in the open 400.
Each of the Hawks’ four varsity relay teams finished fourth. The 4×100 was made up of Payton Diehm, Steffen, Megan Otto and Pam Mutombo. Kynlee Dolphin joined Diehm, Steffen and Mutombo in the 4×200. The sprint medley quartet was Diehm, Otto, Mutombo and Abonce. Wrapping up the meet in the 4×400 were Dolphin, Croatt, Abonce and Steffen.
