Orange City wrestling triangular sees first loss Okoboji/HMS girls

The Okoboji/HMS girls wrestlers suffered their first loss of the season as they traveled to Orange City January 23 for a triangular hosted by MOC-Floyd Valley. It was the Dutch who sent Okoboji/HMS down to defeat as MOC-FV won 46-30. The Pioneers had earlier claimed a 48-36 win over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley to improve to 12-0.
HMS wrestlers in action were Madi Lauer, wrestling at 110 pounds and Mahkenzie Mattingly, competing at 155. Lauer won her first match of the evening when the Nighthawks’ Daila Quevado Pech was disqualified. She picked up a victory by forfeit in the dual with MOC-FV. It took only 29 seconds for Mattingly to pin BH/RV’s Mia Darnell. Kasee Huss, wrestling at 155 pounds for the Dutch, was able to score a 19-2 technical fall victory over her Okoboji/HMS counterpart in 2:21.
