Undefeated Hinton stymies Hawk girls
Hinton ran its record to 15-0 with a 61-25 win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn January 17 at Hinton. Defense was on display for the Blackhawks, ranked fourth in Class 2A, as they made 22 steals and held HMS to 24 percent shooting.
The Hawks were just 9-of-38 from the floor, including 3-of-18 from beyond the arc. Hinton shot 37 percent overall (23-of-63) and 8-of-20 from distance. At the foul line the Blackhawks were 7-of-17 and HMS 4-of-8.
The scoring for the Hawks showed Gracie Knobloch with nine points, Kylee Schiphoff with seven, Frankie Mohni with five and Abby Douma and Eliza Tewes with two each. Mohni had three assists and Gracie Knobloch two.
Schiphoff grabbed eight rebounds, Douma seven and Moriah Otto six. Getting one steal each were Schiphoff, Otto, Tewes and Lindsey Van Es. Douma rejected five shots while Schiphoff, Otto, and Addy Sheeler each had one block.
