The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn track and field competed in their second meet of the week April 17 at Paullina. The Hawks finished fourth at the South O’Brien Mid-Season Meet, scoring 60 points. Sioux Central amassed 208 points to win the team title.
Placing second individually were Laura Vargas in the long jump and Keely Ebel in the 200 meters. Kamryn Ebel, Eva Stammer, Payton Diehm and Lexi Schmillen teamed up for a runner-up finish in the 4×400 relay.
A pair of relays finished third: the 4×100 of Diehm, Keely Ebel, Kamryn Ebel and Pamela Mutombo and the shuttle hurdle of Jenna Hengeveld, Thalia Rodriguez, Jamie Diaz and Jessica Diaz. Keely Ebel placed fourth in both the 100 and 200 meters. Also earning fourth-place finishes were the 4×200 unit of Diehm, Lindsey Van Es, Vargas and Eva Stammer and the sprint medley team of Diehm, Van Es, Stammer and Kamryn Ebel.
